Kwankwaso can only return to APC on one condition – Ganduje reveals

Former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has said the party is willing to welcome Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso back—provided he abides by its constitution.

In an interview with BBC Hausa, Ganduje emphasized that the APC would not offer special privileges to anyone seeking to return. He noted that those who left must be prepared to deal with the political consequences of their past choices.

There had been reports that Kwankwaso had approached current APC Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, about a potential return. However, Kwankwaso has since denied the claims, calling them unfounded.

Responding to the speculation, Ganduje remarked that any move by Kwankwaso to rejoin the APC would be akin to “licking his vomit,” implying that he would need to acknowledge past errors before being accepted back.

Speaking on the situation in Kano, Ganduje confirmed that the party had overcome its internal challenges. He said a recent stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja assessed the APC’s 2023 electoral performance and praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.

He also dismissed any notion of tension between himself and the president, affirming that their relationship remains intact. According to him, the Kano APC is solidly behind Tinubu and focused on reclaiming the state in the 2027 elections.
