According to the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the police were overwhelmed when terrorists executed a violent and deadly assault on the Woro community.
In an interview on Channels Television’s ‘The Morning Brief’ program, Ejire-Adeyemi made this statement on Friday.
Residents of the Woro community, where the incident occurred, claimed that there was no response from police or other security forces for over ten hours.
ZINGTIE recalls that terrorists invaded the community, resulting in the deaths of more than 100 individuals.
However, clarifying the situation. The Police PRO stated, “Well, as of that moment, I just believe that probably they were overwhelmed. We also have this collaboration with the local vigilantes in that community, and most importantly, the National Forest guards are also present in that community.
“We just say they were overwhelmed, and before they could get back because of the distance from the community to the Divisional Police Headquarters, which is located in Kayama, I don’t know how long that took, but it is quite a distance, but definitely they got reinforcement,” she said.
