According to the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, its candidate for president in 2023, will only be able to win on this platform in the 2027 election.

This claim was made by the party’s National Vice Chairman, Ayo Olorunfemi, during a Wednesday interview that ZINGTIE watched on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

Recall that some members of Peter Obi’s Obidients support group pressured him to leave the party, which was in disarray following the elections, in order to avoid a crisis before the 2027 elections. Peter Obi stood for president under the Labour Party in the 2023 election.

In response to the request that Obi leave the party, Olorunfemi stated that it is true that Obi’s guests won’t recommend that he do so.

“Well, I will just use the word delusional, those ones that are pressing for such, they are delusional. Some people can overreach themselves, the true Obidients out there, they won’t advise Peter Obi to leave the party.

“You have the true Obidients, the student unions groups, the youths of Nigeria, the hardworking people of Nigeria, are tired of what is going on in Nigeria, people are tired of hunger, which political party will he go to? To go back to PDP, APC or to Where?

“This is a political party that is based on ideology, we are social democrats here. The people that put this political party up are social democrats and that is entrenched in the constitution. So, the only place for Peter Obi to win the election in 2027 is the Labour Party and we are preparing for that,” Olorunfemi said.

He asserts that, with God’s grace, the former governor of Anambra State will win the presidency in 2027 and that he is still the greatest president Nigeria has ever had.

He expressed optimism that the Labour Party would emerge from its crisis stronger, stating that Julius Abure’s leadership would battle for the party’s unity and peace and welcome the Lamidi Apapa camp back into the fold.
