According to a report from Punch Newspaper on Sunday, February 2, a young woman, Promise Eze, has recounted her harrowing experience of narrowly escaping a suspected ritual killing after meeting a man online who posed as an oil worker.

The incident took place on January 31, 2025, in a hotel located in the Wuse district of Abuja, where she was found tied up in a bathroom.

According to police reports, Eze, 25, checked into the hotel on January 30 with a man who identified himself as Emmanuel Okoro from Lagos.

However, during her ordeal, she revealed that he had initially introduced himself online as Michael Prince, claiming to work for an oil company in Delta State.

After she declined his invitation to Delta, they arranged to meet in Abuja.

Upon arrival at the hotel, Eze was threatened with a dagger and subsequently restrained, her mouth taped shut.

When police arrived following a distress call from hotel staff, they discovered her unconscious and tied to a chair.

Officers acted swiftly, freeing her and transporting her to Wuse District Hospital for treatment.
