According to the Lagos State Government, it is dedicated to enhancing safety by making sure that drivers working in the city receive regular training.
In a statement released on Friday, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Commissioner for Transportation, emphasized that the government will guarantee efficient driving instruction.
According to him, the state government is committed to educating and inspiring drivers in the public and private sectors to maintain operational safety.
“Driver education promotes awareness of vehicle positioning, the anticipation of potential collisions, and effective responses in emergencies, these are crucial in preventing fatalities caused by avoidable accidents,” he said.
In order to meet the 2030 target of a 50% reduction in road traffic deaths and injuries, the United Nations Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety also emphasized the critical role that driver education plays.
According to him, the program’s goal was to make sure that educators and operators around the state had access to the knowledge they needed to adjust to each student’s unique requirements and the variety of difficulties that face us today.
According to Osiyemi, the state government is pushing for driver instruction to be taught in schools in order to lower the number of traffic accidents worldwide and foster a safer driving environment.
Driving instructors are asked to instill principles in their students by Mr. Olawale Musa, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation.
Musa pointed out that the state government’s capacity to produce skilled drivers would determine how well it was able to maintain an efficient transportation system.
The instructors and operators of driver training schools were thanked by Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu, General Manager of Lagos State Drivers Institute, for their assistance in providing essential professional driving knowledge.
They should keep improving road culture and safety on Lagos roads, Tiamiyu pleaded.
