The Executive Chairman of Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Muibi Alade Folawiyo, has denied reports suggesting that he was taken into custody by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged misuse of public funds.
In a statement released on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Olushoga Olushola, Folawiyo explained that he was simply invited by the ICPC for a discussion in connection with a petition he claimed was filed by individuals trying to discredit him before the upcoming local government elections in Lagos State.
According to the statement, the Chairman complied with the ICPC’s invitation and responded to all inquiries, stressing that he was never detained during the engagement and has since returned to his official responsibilities.
“As a responsible and law-abiding citizen, Hon. Folawiyo honoured the ICPC’s invitation and engaged with the Commission professionally, confident that the facts would speak for themselves,” the statement read.
He called on the public especially residents and stakeholders in Lagos Island East LCDA—to ignore what he called false and exaggerated reports designed to create panic.
Folawiyo also conveyed deep appreciation to his community for their ongoing encouragement, prayers, and unity, while restating his dedication to openness, ethical leadership, and service to the people.
