LaLiga: Why we signed Iheanacho – Sevilla chief, Orta

Victor Orta, the sports director of Sevilla, has disclosed that Kelechi Iheanacho had a strong work ethic upon joining the team.

The Nigerian international was signed by the Rojiblancos last week on a free transfer.

Iheanacho’s contract with Premier League team Leicester City expired in June, therefore he left.

Several European and Saudi Arabian clubs sought the 27-year-old, but he ultimately decided to sign with the reigning UEFA Europa League winners.

Iheanacho had a strong desire to join the team, admitted Orta.

Orta stated on the club’s official website, “We always work with several options. There was a moment when Iheanacho showed a lot of will to come and that made us speed up.”

“The people around him saw a lot of possibility of success in the Spanish league and I am very happy about that.”
