Latino Community Foundation Donates Millions in Community Development Initiatives

The Latino Community Foundation (LCF) has announced a significant investment in Latinx-led organisations across California and Nevada, totalling $3,882,500 in grants. This funding aims to support immigrants rights, economic justice, and community development initiatives.

The grants include over $300,000 from LCF’s Latino Power Fund, which will be allocated to immigrant rights organisations for legal aid, rapid response services, and community organising efforts. This funding prioritises rural communities in California’s Central and Imperial Valleys and Nevada, which have historically been underfunded and disproportionately affected by federal anti-immigrant policies.

LCF Chief Executive Julián Castro emphasised the organisation’s commitment to supporting Latinx immigrant communities, saying, “At the Latino Community Foundation, our commitment to defend and uplift Latinx immigrant communities is unwavering. Through LCF’s grantmaking and our deep dedication to equity, we’re ensuring that frontline organisations have the resources they need to unleash the power of our grassroots leaders as we join together to confront attacks on our humanity.”

The awards also include $905,000 in support of economic justice initiatives for immigrant entrepreneurs through LCF’s Latino Capital Accelerator. This investment aims to remove barriers to Latinx business creation and growth, promoting economic opportunities and development in underserved communities.

By providing critical funding and resources, the Latino Community Foundation is empowering Latinx-led organisations to drive positive change and promote equity in their communities.
