A member of the House of Representatives representing Fagge Federal Constituency of Kano State, Mohammed Shehu, has provided scholarships to 3,500 indigenous students in tertiary institutions within the last two and a half years.
In addition, he covered the WAEC, NECO, and JAMB registration fees of secondary school students in 2023 and 2024. Shehu, a lawyer, revealed this while briefing journalists after a town hall meeting with his constituents. He further disclosed that more than 25 law school candidates each received ₦250,000 in scholarship support.
As part of his educational interventions, Shehu established a computer room and library at Aisha Shehu Secondary School.
Outlining his achievements, he said, “My efforts in education for the people of my constituency include the construction of a Science Model Primary School at Kwachiri Maidorawa and a block of classrooms at Airforce Base Kano. I also constructed a block of six classrooms and toilets at Na-Tsugune Primary School in Jaba.”
He added: “Also, the refurbishing of the computer room at Aisha Shehu Girls Secondary School Fagge and the provision of over 2,000 sets of school uniforms are some of my efforts. Others include the demolition and reconstruction of Khairul Bariyyah Islamiyah at Rijiyar Lemo, as well as the provision of modernised canopies to Quranic Schools in Fagge.
