Nigerian artist Kizz Daniel has shared that his latest EP, Lemon Chase, marks a shift from his usual approach to music.
He emphasized that the seven-track release is more than a preview of his forthcoming album, Uncle K. Instead, it serves as a personal and emotional project that explores themes such as love, heartbreak, inner peace, and moments of joy emotions he believes listeners will easily connect with.
According to the Flyboi boss, his intention with this EP was to create music that reflects honesty and authenticity.
“When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade out of it, I wanted this project to feel like real life; sweet, sour, confusing, beautiful. This is music for your heart, for when you’re healing, or hoping, or remembering. I just wanted it to be honest, authentic and true to self,” Kizz Daniel said.
The EP features collaborations with renowned artists including five-time Grammy Award winner Angelique Kidjo, Johnny Drille, Bella Shmurda, Odumodu Blvck, Zlatan, and Fola.
Its lead track, Police, which features Johnny Drille and Angelique Kidjo, has already drawn attention, with many music enthusiasts predicting it could be a strong contender for the Best African Music Performance category at the next Grammy Awards.
