LP crisis: Court restrains Abure-led faction in Abia

The leadership of Emmanuel Otti as the Chairman of the Labour Party, LP in Abia State has been confirmed by an Abia State High Court located in the Ukwa Judicial Division.

Additionally, the Court prohibited Prince G.O. Ndubueze from posing as the Abia State Chairman of LP or meddling in Otti’s Abia LP operations.

According to the party’s 2024 constitution, the Court ruled that Emmanuel Otti’s suspension from office by the Julius Abure-led group was illegal, unconstitutional, and had no legal significance.

The Abia High Court also decided that the Independent National Electoral Commission had not properly recognized or validated the 2024 LP constitution, which Julius Abure used to suspend Emmanuel Otti, as required by law.

Before the ruling, two sections of LP leadership claimed control of the party, with Emmanuel Otti supporting the Governor Alex Otti/Peter Obi family, while Prince G.O. Ndubueze vowed loyalty to the Julius Abure-led side.
