Ngozi Okolie, the National Assembly member for Delta State’s Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency, has defected to the All Progressives Congress, or APC.

In 2023, he was elected on the Labour Party’s (LP) platform.

He announced this while addressing to journalists in Asaba, Delta State.

According to him, “I am no longer a member of the Labour Party. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but I believe this decision will bring progress and more good things to my people.”

He cited the lack of leadership and the party’s numerous issues as the reasons he left the Labour Party.

“To be honest, the Labour Party is disorganized. There is no direction and the problems are too many. I don’t think we can make progress in the National Assembly with all that confusion”.

However, the National Vice Chairman of LP in charge of South South, Chief Tony Ezeagwu hailed the defection as having no effect and good riddance.

“Let me tell you, since he came to power through our platform which he is discrediting now, he never connected with the party and lacked visibility in Abuja where he is sent to represent the people. He was one man alone.

“Ask questions, few days ago before this defection he called a meeting of the party comprising the four local government areas of his constituency but the local government Chairmen walked out on him.

“As you can see he defected alone, so we are not going to lose sleep at all”, Ezeagwu maintained.
