Seyi Makinde is yet to choose his preferred candidate ahead of the 2027 governorship election, contrary to speculations making the rounds.
This was disclosed on Thursday morning by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
Rumours had surfaced on Wednesday night claiming that the governor had already settled for a preferred candidate believed to contest under the platform of his political party.
The report, published by some online platforms, alleged that Makinde had endorsed Bimbo Adekanmbi, a former Commissioner for Finance during the administration of former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, as his preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
However, Olanrewaju, when contacted, denied the claim of any endorsement.
Speaking during a telephone conversation, he explained that the governor was still consulting.
He also stated that no individual had been announced so far.
Olanrewaju maintained that the governor had not endorsed anyone as his preferred candidate as of the time of filing the report on Thursday.
Olanrewaju said, “No, they are still consulting. They are still consulting on who the candidate would be. They are yet to announce.
“I said that they are still making consultations. No announcement has been made. No candidate has been announced”.
