Abubakar Malami, a former justice minister and attorney general of the Federation, has charged that the All Progressives Congress, or APC, has abandoned administration in favor of a campaign to win the 2027 election.

Malami said this during a recent meeting of the National Political Consultative Group (North) in Abuja.

He charged that by putting politics before of governance, the party was inconsiderate to the suffering of Nigerians.

“Just a few days ago, the ruling party held its national summit and instead of addressing the serious issues of insecurity, economic hardship and rising poverty, it chose to focus on politics, endorsing President Bola Tinubu as sole candidate for the 2027 election that is still two years away.”

He called on elected officials to put the needs of their constituents ahead of the election’s uncertain outcome.

Although he has voiced his displeasure with certain of the party members’ behavior, Malami, who was an active member of the Buhari government, is still an active member of the APC.
