The Qatari Ministry of Interior has introduced new visa guidelines specifically affecting Nigerian travelers.

According to the ministry, the changes were prompted by an increase in incidents involving visitors overstaying their permitted time in the country.

Under the updated rules, tourists and transit passengers from Nigeria must now provide proof of a confirmed return transfer along with hotel reservations before their visa applications will be considered.

Additionally, the criteria for eligibility have become more limited. Only women and families can now apply for these visas, while unaccompanied male travelers are no longer permitted unless they are traveling with their families.

Another major change is that only reservations at five-star hotels will meet the new visa requirements.

These new regulations are effective immediately and also apply to visa applications that are already in process.
