Man in police net for allegedly raping 17-year-old girl in Ogun

Ogun State Police officers have detained a 34-year-old man named Olayinka Isaac on suspicion of raping a 17-year-old girl in the Rounder neighbourhood of Abeokuta North Local Government.

ZINGTIE learnt that the suspect had forced carnal knowledge of the adolescent and had enticed her into a nearby thicket behind the community’s “Carry Go” area.

Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed his arrest to ZINGTIE on Monday, stating that the incident happened on Thursday at approximately 4 p.m.

According to Odutola, a Social Orientation and Safety Corps member from the state community visited the survivor’s mother and told her about the occurrence, in addition to assisting in the suspect’s identification.

She mentioned that the defendant was taken into custody by Ilupeju Division detectives, who also took the survivor to the hospital for treatment.

According to the police spokesperson, the matter will be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for additional action after a preliminary investigation has begun.

Odutola said, “Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had allegedly lured the victim to the isolated area before carrying out the heinous act.

“Officers from the Juvenile Welfare Centre visited the scene of the crime to gather evidence, with the case now under thorough investigation.

“The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further action,” she added.
