The Premier League clash between Manchester United and Arsenal is shaping up to be the standout fixture of the weekend.
The English top-flight made its return on Friday after an 82-day break, kicking off with Liverpool’s exciting 4-2 victory over Bournemouth.
On Saturday, Manchester City dominated Wolves with a 4-0 win, while Tottenham Hotspur comfortably defeated newly-promoted Burnley 3-0, marking Thomas Frank’s debut in the league.
However, all eyes are now on Sunday’s showdown at Old Trafford, where the Gunners face off against United in what promises to be a key early test for both sides.
For United, it’s an opportunity to bounce back after what was arguably their worst season ever, ending 15th in the league and falling to Spurs in the Europa League final.
Now under the leadership of Ruben Amorim in his first full season, the Red Devils have bolstered their attack with the additions of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko signings that bring new energy to the front line.
One target Amorim missed out on, however, is Viktor Gyokeres, who instead chose to sign for Arsenal.
Gyokeres is among six new players to arrive at the Emirates Stadium, alongside Christhian Mosquera, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, and Christian Norgaard.
There’s growing pressure on Mikel Arteta this season, widely considered a pivotal moment in his managerial tenure. After three consecutive second-place finishes, fans and analysts alike are expecting a title push.
With Arsenal having already claimed three points in their opening game, the pressure is on Arteta’s squad to set the tone early and show they mean business.
