The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has announced the suspension of the 2025/2026 Students Union Government (SUG) election. The decision was made during the university’s 357th meeting, as stated in a press release dated July 14.

According to Njelita Louis, Acting Director of Information and Public Relations Officer, the suspension aims to address grievances surrounding the electoral process. The statement read, “The Management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, at its 357th meeting held recently, has directed the suspension of the 2025/2026 Students Union Government Election.

The university management urged all parties to adhere to the directive and cooperate with the administration to resolve the issues. The statement added, “This decision has been taken to enable the management to address all grievances surrounding the electoral process and ensure that all concerned parties are given a fair hearing.”
