The England international had a great opportunity to break his goal drought in the first half against Leicester, following a foul on Jadon Sancho by Viktor Kristiansen.

However, despite being awarded a penalty from 12 yards, Palmer’s shot hit the left-hand post. Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen reacted swiftly to deny the attempt.

Reflecting on Palmer’s miss in his post-match interview, Maresca explained, “Cole didn’t feel well during the night. People need to understand the effort he made to be there. He is a top player. Everything is normal now.”

Before this miss, Palmer had converted all 12 of his penalties, generally favoring accuracy over power.
