The Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry Enugu, Nigeria (AMEN), Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has alleged that former President Goodluck Jonathan lost the 2015 presidential election because he failed to heed his advice.

According to the cleric, he had advised Jonathan to remove the then Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega, but the recommendation was not acted upon.

Mbaka made the assertion in a viral video while explaining his recent remarks that the insecurity currently affecting the country has political undertones.

ZINGTIE recalls that the cleric had earlier claimed that the nation’s security challenges were being fuelled by certain politicians with the aim of removing President Bola Tinubu from office, just as he alleged happened during Jonathan’s administration.

His comments sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many users revisiting his role and public statements during the period leading to Jonathan’s defeat in the 2015 election.

Responding to the criticism in the latest video, Mbaka insisted that Jonathan’s loss was a result of poor judgment and wrong decisions.

The cleric maintained that the former president ignored what he described as the counsel of a man of God, a mistake he believes contributed to the outcome of the election.

“Forget about what they are saying on social media, former President Goodluck Jonathan was my friend; the case is different.

“Jonathan didn’t fail because I failed him; he decided to fail. I told him what to do to win the election, but he refused.

“He failed because he disobeyed the advice of a man of God. I told him to remove Jega, that Jega had already betrayed him but he refused to remove Jega”, he said.
