After Lionel Messi joined the team in August 2021, Brazil’s star Neymar said that his old teammate Kylian Mbappé grew “a little jealous.”

Messi left Barcelona on a free transfer to join PSG.

In a podcast hosted by his countryman Romário, Neymar also acknowledged that his performance in crucial games for the French team was impacted by his inflated ego.

After Romário questioned whether Mbappé, who joined Real Madrid this season, “is annoying,” the 32-year-old made this declaration.

“No, he is not. I have my issues with him, we had a little fight, but he was fundamental for us when he arrived. I used to call him ‘Golden Boy,’” Neymar said.

“I always played with him, said he was going to be one of the best. I always helped him, talked to him, he came to my place, and we had dinner together.

“We had some good years of partnership, but after Messi came, he was a little jealous. He didn’t want to share me with anyone. And then there were some fights and a change in behaviour.”

In 2017, Mbappé went from Monaco to PSG, while Neymar completed one of the biggest moves in football history when he moved from Barcelona to PSG.
