The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) has received a groundbreaking $50 million gift from an anonymous donor to it’s College of Medicine. This historic donation, the largest in the university’s 201-year history, will revolutionize medical education and address the state’s pressing healthcare provider shortage.

The gift will support MUSC’s commitment to innovative medical education, enabling the university to train more physicians and attract top talent. MUSC President David J. Cole expressed his gratitude, saying, “For two centuries, MUSC has been an innovative healthcare leader in South Carolina. Yet, with growing chronic disease rates the need for bold action has never been greater.” He added, “This extraordinary act of generosity will empower us to lean into the next century as we reimagine medical education, drive innovation, and dramatically improve health outcomes for all South Carolinians.”
