Following Colombia’s president’s decision to prevent two military aircraft transporting deported migrants from landing in the nation, US President Donald Trump has criticised 25% tariffs on Colombia.

Gustavo Petro, the president of Colombia, refused to let US military aircraft transporting deported migrants to enter the nation on Sunday through his official X page.

“The US cannot treat Colombian migrants as criminals. I deny the entry of American planes carrying Colombian migrants into our territory.

“The United States must establish a protocol for the dignified treatment of migrants before we receive them,” Petro posted.

Two military planes from San Diego were scheduled to land in Colombia with migrant deportees, according to US officials on Sunday, but the preparations were cancelled because of issues.

Speaking about the issue in a post on Truth Social, Trump declared that emergency tariffs would be applied right now to all commodities coming into the US from Colombia.

Trump said that the 25% tariffs would be raised to 50% within a week.

The president declared that the United States will immediately revoke Colombian government officials’ visas and limit their travel.

In addition, Trump announced that, for national security reasons, all Colombian citizens and goods would be subject to more thorough customs and border protection inspections, as well as visa sanctions for supporters of the Colombian government.

According to the US president, his administration will not permit the Colombian government to disregard its legal duties regarding the return and acceptance of the criminals they compelled to enter the country.

ZINGTIE recalls that throughout the campaigns for the US presidential elections, Trump had threatened to carry out huge deportations of illegal aliens.

The president issued multiple executive orders pertaining to immigration on his first day in office.

Trump signed executive orders to increase the authority of immigration and customs enforcement, or ICE, to hold and arrest undocumented immigrants on US soil.
