The Lagos State Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu has recommended that auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe face criminal charges related to the death of popular Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known professionally as Mohbad.

Magistrate C.A. Shotobi, who announced the court’s verdict on Friday, found that Ogedengbe showed gross negligence by giving an injection to the late singer without a valid prescription from a certified doctor.

While the court dismissed any suspicion of foul play or homicide, it determined that the nurse’s conduct was illegal and unprofessional.

“In line with Section 29 of the Coroner Laws of Lagos State, this court recommends that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, initiate appropriate legal action against Feyisayo Ogedengbe for unauthorized medical practice and gross negligence,” Magistrate Shotobi stated.

Ogedengbe was initially taken into custody concerning Mohbad’s death, which happened under contentious circumstances on September 11, 2023, triggering widespread public outrage and demands for a detailed inquiry.

In her March 2025 court testimony, Ogedengbe admitted she administered a tetanus shot to the singer, after which he reportedly began vomiting and suffered adverse effects.
