The Vice Chancellor of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Prof. Maduebibisi Iwe, has urged new students to shun cultism and other anti-social behaviors during their stay in the university. He also encouraged them to embrace values such as honesty, hard work, respect, and academic excellence.

Speaking during the 31st matriculation ceremony, Prof. Iwe advised the fresh students to approach their studies with diligence and enthusiasm. He emphasized the importance of upholding the principles of sustainability and innovation in agricultural knowledge, which the university is known for ¹.

The VC also charged the students to embrace diversity, engage in critical thinking, and foster collaboration and teamwork to achieve their goals. He reminded them that the university maintains zero tolerance for indecent dressing, examination malpractice, and cult-related activities.

Prof. Iwe stated, “Remember you are embarking on a transformative journey that will shape your lives in the future, but I must remind you that this citadel of learning still maintains zero tolerance for indecent dressing, examination malpractice, and cult-related activities, among other anti-social behaviors.”

He congratulated the new students on their matriculation and wished them well. A total of 4,781 new students took the admission oath during the ceremony.
