Muslim leaders in Rivers State have called on President Bola Tinubu to reconsider the emergency rule in the state and restore the full powers of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who has had his authority suspended.
The leaders highlighted that, despite the ongoing political turmoil, Governor Fubara has been effectively steering the state.
This request was made during a visit to Governor Fubara’s private residence in Port Harcourt on Monday, as part of the Eid-el-Fitr festivities.
The delegation, which included Muslim leaders from 20 Islamic groups, was led by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor, speaking on behalf of the Muslim Ummah, assured Governor Fubara of their strong and continuous support. He encouraged the governor to stay strong, reminding him that believers are often tested through wealth, power, and authority, as outlined in Islamic teachings.
