Popular Yoruba actress Habibat Jinad has talked up about the horrible assault she faced in her past marriage.

In a recent interview uploaded on Iambimpeakintunde’s official Instagram page, she described how her ex-husband routinely harassed her — and how the violence escalated to the point where even his younger brother physically attacked her, ultimately knocking out her teeth.

“My Husband Beat Me So Much That Even His Brother Joined. The worst thing that could ever happen to a lady is marrying into a toxic family.” She revealed during the interview.

“My advice to women looking forward to marriage is to pray they don’t end up with a bad family. My ex-husband’s family was incredibly tough and wicked. Even though my ex-husband had his flaws, he was still a good person in some ways.

“But at some point things started to change between us, and I kept wondering what went wrong. He became violent, constantly beating me. It got so bad that even his younger brother started hitting me – and in one of those incidents, he knocked out my teeth.”

Habibat concludedIn response to this tale, numerous social media users bombarded Habibat with questions, questioning if she defended herself or if she simply watched them strike her in this manner. Even why she stayed in the marriage when this violence started was questioned by others.

Habibat’s experience here, however, is a terrifying reminder of the difficulties that many women have in abusive marriages and a caution to all women in abusive or new relationships to escape at the first hint of violence. An abusive marriage is not something any woman should have to endure.
