Senator Ahmed Wadada, representing Nasarawa West, has formally withdrawn his membership from the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
His resignation was conveyed in a letter addressed to the SDP Chairman of Tudun Ward, located in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
As reported by the News Agency of Nigeria, the letter dated Thursday was titled: “Notification of Resignation from the Social Democratic Party (SDP).”
It read, “I am writing to inform you of my decision to resign as a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), effective immediately.
“This decision has not been taken lightly but I feel compelled to do so due to the lingering internal crisis that has plagued our party for some time.
“As you are aware, these internal conflicts have led to serious division and litigations within the party.
“I appreciate the opportunities given to me while been a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and grateful for the experiences and relationship built.
“However, I feel it is time for me to move on and explore new avenues.”
His resignation comes shortly after voicing public support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Following a recent visit to the State House, Senator Wadada dismissed claims suggesting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) could produce a leader capable of surpassing President Tinubu’s performance.
He also hinted at the possibility of returning to the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting his political journey from previously serving as a national officer in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before joining the APC and then the SDP.
Wadada clarified that his resignation was not due to any personal disagreements within the SDP but was motivated by what he referred to as “the dynamism of life.”
