Paris Saint-Germain, PSG, president Nasser al-Khelaifi is facing an investigation in France over an alleged conflict of interest, prosecutors in Paris confirmed on Sunday.
The case is connected to his simultaneous roles as head of the Champions League holders and chairman of beIN Media Group.
According to L’Equipe, the investigation centres on a meeting concerning broadcasting rights involving representatives of the French football league in July 2024.
The meeting reportedly took place a day after beIN Sports submitted a €100 million bid for the rights to broadcast one Ligue 1 match per week.
The French professional football league subsequently approved the offer.
The investigation was launched following a complaint from anti-corruption organisation Anticor, with the case handed over to France’s anti-corruption and financial police.
Anticor alleges that al-Khelaifi participated in discussions concerning the approval of beIN Sports’ bid despite also serving as chairman of beIN Media Group, a situation the organisation argues could amount to a conflict of interest.
