Fatoumatta Njai, a former representative in both the Pan-African and ECOWAS Parliaments, has expressed concern over the challenges faced by women in Nigeria’s Senate, noting that one in every four female senators is currently dealing with significant issues.

Njai shared her concerns during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday, while answering questions related to the situation.

Her comments follow the recent incident involving Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from Kogi Central, who was blocked from returning to the Senate after completing a six-month suspension.

On Monday, the Senate informed Natasha that she could not yet resume her duties due to an ongoing legal matter.

In response, Njai criticized the decision, stating that even though the issue is before the court, it should not prevent Senator Natasha from returning to her legislative duties now that her suspension period has ended.
