There are clear signs that the All Progressives Congress, or APC, has decided to select the next National Chairman of the party from the Northcentral geopolitical zone.

According to sources, the decision was made during a series of meetings that took place before today’s Thursday National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

According to ZINGTIE, the North-Central has been pushing for the post ever since Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the party’s former chairman and the man who helped it win the 2023 presidential election, resigned on June 27.

Although ZINGTIE post cannot vouch for it, reports suggest that the ruling party is contemplating Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and a previous APC contender for governor of Plateau State, as its next National Chairman.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, meantime, told reporters that the NEC meeting will be short shortly after the Progressives Governors Forum, PGF meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at Aso Villa on Wednesday night.

The nomination of the National Chairman will be the main focus of the “very brief meeting,” he said.

Regarding whether a new chairman will be appointed by consensus, the governor of Imo merely stated, “we cannot say what the outcome will be. When you come there tomorrow (today), you will see it.”
