The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration’s main gate, also referred to as the Minister’s Gate, was closed by organised labour on Monday, preventing employees from entering their offices.

The Joint Union, the Action Committee (JUAC), the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) labour union, and the FCTA union closed the gate.

Labour leaders were enforcing adherence to the “no entry, no going out” order as workers were observed congregating at the gate.

Speaking at the gate, Comrade Rifkatu Lortyer, the President of JUAC, promised to keep up the action till their demands are fulfilled.

Lortyer advised FCTA and FCDA employees to follow the guidelines and remain at home.

She said: “You know it is a long time struggle over the minimum wage and the electricity tariff that is just added to it. And till now, the government has reached a compromise. Since the national body NLC and TUC have declared strike, we have to enforce it.”
