The five-year partnership between Magic Cabinet and NVR will integrate the former’s community-driven cohort model with the latter’s community-based, culturally specific approach to grantmaking. This synergy will not only bolster NVR’s internal capacity to support the broader Native nonprofit ecosystem but also provide essential funding to organizations led by and for Native communities.

Shash Yázhí Moreno Charley, NVR’s grants manager, emphasized the values driving this partnership: “Our partnership is rooted in values of respect, reciprocity, relationship, and responsibility.” Charley highlighted the urgent need for support, given the significant impacts of recent executive orders on tribal communities. “It’s imperative to fill the resource gaps for our safety and well-being. Working together, we’ll be better able to address Native communities’ priorities and provide flexible funding for them to direct as they want”

Through this collaboration, Magic Cabinet and NVR will co-design approaches that prioritize Native leadership, offer assistance, and enhance the capacity of organizations. This strategic partnership promises to make a lasting impact on the lives of Native communities, promoting self-determination, cultural preservation, and socioeconomic empowerment.
