“Under the expanded scheme, 600 students will benefit, compared to the 200 who currently receive foreign scholarships,” Ogbuku said. The commission had received over 30,000 applications for its foreign postgraduate scholarship, with about 6,000 candidates passing the Computer-Based Test (CBT).

Dr. George Uzonwanne, Director of Education, Health, and Social Services at NDDC, detailed the selection process, stating, “From this number, 2,500 applicants scored 70 percent or higher, enabling them to proceed to the oral interview stage.” He emphasized transparency, noting that candidates receive their test scores immediately after completing the CBT

Ogbuku assured that the selection of scholarship recipients for local awards would be conducted with full transparency. The NDDC scholarship program aims to support human capital development and empower youths through higher education.

In a related development, the NDDC has announced a N30 billion fund to foster young entrepreneurship in the Niger Delta region, channeling the funds through the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines, and Agriculture (NDCCITMA)
