NDDC Brings Relief to Flood-Ravaged Communities in Bayelsa

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has donated relief materials to the flood-ravaged Otuasega and Oruma communities in Bayelsa State. The gesture, made in partnership with an indigenous firm, Ednest Egerue Foundation, is part of the Commission’s mandate to address the needs of the people of the Niger Delta region.

NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, emphasized the Commission’s commitment to alleviating the plight of vulnerable communities. “We are committed to alleviating the plight of the people by supporting vulnerable communities,” he said. “This distribution is not limited to the Otuasega and Oruma communities.”

The relief materials were distributed to the communities as part of the Commission’s social intervention programs. The NDDC has also been involved in various development projects in the communities, including the construction of a modern school, hospital, and lodge for youth corps members

Founder of the Ednest Egerue Foundation, Susan Ibiama, commended the NDDC for its efforts in bringing succour and relief to the people of the Niger Delta region. “I thank the NDDC for the opportunity to partner with them to assist troubled communities,” she said. “This flood resulted in significant economic losses for these communities. This intervention is laudable.”

The Vice Chairman of the Otuasega Community Development Committee, Mr. Innocent Abbey, expressed gratitude to the NDDC for remembering their people at a difficult time. “We are grateful to the NDDC for remembering our people at this difficult time,” he said. “These items will go a long way in easing the burden on our people.”

The Secretary of the Ngbiama-Oruma Community, Mr. Akaribo Lamanya, also lauded the NDDC and pledged that the relief materials would be distributed equitably among the people.
