Operatives of the Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, working with the Nigerian Army, have recovered 65 bags of illicit substances weighing 604.5 kilogrammes.
The Edo State Commander of the agency, Dr Mitchell Ofoyefu, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Benin City on Monday.
Ofoyefu said the seized substances tested positive for skunk cannabis and were recovered during an operation at a notorious drug centre in Ewe Luleha community, Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
He disclosed that the operation was carried out on August 5, 2026.
The commander added that the agency had commenced a manhunt for a suspected drug kingpin identified as Sunday, who reportedly escaped following the raid.
“We are tracking the suspected drug kingpin, one Sunday, who is in hiding following the operation. He has nowhere to hide because we will certainly apprehend him,” Ofoyefu said.
