The Category Manager/Head of Maggi for Nestlé Nigeria, Funmi Osineye, stated, “It is important because it is a meeting where they discuss things that progress Nigeria, relating to women and community development. We, as a brand that is rooted in heritage, thought that whatever they are saying is for the women generally in the Southeast states.” The program aims to empower women through various activities, including cooking competitions, pep talks, and discussions on health issues
The cooking competition saw Mrs Merit Njeribeako emerge as the first-place winner, followed by Mrs Charity Anikam and Josephine Nwagbaraocha in second and third positions, respectively. The winners received mouthwatering prizes, and some oral contributors in the pep discussion and questions and answers on health issues would also be rewarded with cash and executives.
The President of the Owerri Anglican Women Christ, Dr Chioma Onwuegbu, emphasised the importance of women taking their skills seriously, no matter how menial or big. She noted that the body had ensured that peace reigned in the family and communities in the state and that their husbands and children were important to them.
The programme is part of Maggi’s commitment to community development and empowerment, and it is expected to make a positive impact on the lives of women in the South East region.
