Nigeria-China trade gets boost with direct shipping service

The Grimaldi Group has introduced the first-ever direct shipping service from Shanghai to Lagos, a move that is expected to transform maritime trade between China and Nigeria.

The aim of this program is to address persistent issues that Nigerian importers have encountered, such as excessive logistics costs and transshipment delays. Mr. Ascanio Russo, Managing Director of Grimaldi Agency Nigeria and PTML Terminal, announced the development in Lagos and emphasized the service’s disruptive potential.

The service will move a variety of goods, such as project cargo, automobiles, trucks, and containers.
The direct route is revolutionary for companies that depend on on-time delivery because it cuts the trip time to 27 days, which is much faster than traditional routes.

By reducing expenses related to delays and numerous handling points, the program is anticipated to lessen the financial strain on Nigerian companies. The action has been hailed by importers and exporters who see it as a way to facilitate trade and strengthen Nigeria’s economic relationship with China.
The service will be run via Grimaldi’s PTML Terminal, which is known for its effective operations, in Tin Can Island Port. Russo emphasized the terminal’s strategic importance, stating, “We are offering streamlined handling, priority processing, and an unparalleled level of service. PTML Terminal remains the preferred logistics hub in West Africa.”
