The Nigeria Customs Service has explained that its recruitment pre-examination portal experienced a crash on Monday, which it attributed to an overwhelming surge in user access.

Numerous applicants, mostly young Nigerians who had been shortlisted for the recruitment process, were unable to participate in the pre-test due to the system failure.

The purpose of the online pre-test, according to the agency, was to familiarize candidates with the platform before the main computer-based assessment (CBT).

Frustrated by the technical issues, many applicants took to X on Monday to express their disappointment. While some shared that they had spent hours trying unsuccessfully to log in, others raised concerns about the agency’s level of preparedness.

In a post on its official X handle, the agency confirmed the platform issues and blamed the disruption on excessive traffic, advising candidates to remain patient and continue attempting access.

“The service is aware of the current issue with the site; we’re actively experiencing high traffic which may cause temporary inaccessibility.

“Kindly keep trying while our team works tirelessly to resolve the issue,” the agency said.
