The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas, PiCNG, has started initiatives to increase national education, grassroots mobilization, and public understanding of the economic and environmental advantages of CNG.

The action is consistent with the federal government’s stepped-up efforts to propel Nigeria toward a more equitable and sustainable energy future.

During a courtesy visit to his office on Tuesday by Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, Director-General of the City Boy Movement, CBM, Dr. Ismaeel Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of PiCNG, disclosed the government’s aim for a strategic cooperation on grassroots-oriented development.

The head of PiCNG stated that a key link between local communities and federal activities will be a strategic partnership with a grassroots mobilizer like CBM.

According to him, the partnership would increase public knowledge, grassroots activism, and the environmental benefits of CNG, allowing Nigerians to actively engage in and profit from the developing gas-powered economy.

“The partnership is expected to enhance community-level engagement, accelerate the adoption of clean energy solutions, and expand access to alternative fuel options, particularly in underserved areas, as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to transition Nigeria towards a more sustainable and inclusive energy future,” Dr Ahmed noted.

Prior to this, Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, Director-General of CBM, stated that the action is directly in line with the City Boy Movement’s mandate, which calls for grassroots citizen mobilization, government policy promotion, economic community empowerment, national unity, and the advancement of sustainable development initiatives throughout all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

According to him, the PiCNG initiative is a game-changing national tool that might lower unemployment, boost economic expansion, and promote environmental sustainability.

“The PiCNG initiative, rooted in the Renewed Hope Agenda, promotes the widespread adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), saves costs, creates jobs, and encourages environmental sustainability.

“It supports national priorities on sustainable transport, emission reduction, gas-flaring mitigation, and broad-based economic growth.”

He went on to say that CBM’s part in the cooperation is to promote a bottom-up adoption strategy, making sure that infrastructure, training, and opportunities related to CNG reach both urban and rural people across the country.
