Controversial Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi has been invited for questioning by the Nigerian Government.
Gumi was asked to appear for questioning about his remarks regarding the actions of bandits throughout the nation.
Minister of Information and Orientation Mohammed Idris disclosed in a speech to the media on Monday at the State House in Abuja.
According to the minister, the Islamic cleric is not “above the law,” and the administration has decided that he needs to be invited for questioning.
Gumi had urged the Tinubu-led Government to join him in talks with bandits a few weeks prior.
Gumi urged Tinubu to learn from the “mistake” of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who refused to engage in conversation with bandits.
He added that terrorists who kidnap people for ransom are the ones who fund terrorism in Nigeria, not Nigerians.
