The organisers of the countrywide #EndBadGovernance demonstrations have been added to a watchlist by the Nigerian government.

This was announced on Tuesday at Defence Headquarters in Abuja by the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Services, NIS, Kemi Nandap. She was speaking during a strategic meeting convened by Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Staff.

According to her, the people who are living abroad will be detained as soon as they enter the nation.

According to ZINGTIE, the chiefs of security and intelligence services, along with the chief of defence, met behind closed doors to discuss carrying out President Bola Tinubu’s directive to launch a crackdown.

After the meeting, Nandap responded to queries from reporters by saying, “We have Diaspora sponsors, they are on our watchlist. They are watchlisted, any attempt they make to come into the country, we’ll be notified and they will be picked up and handed to the appropriate authority.”

She claims that in reaction to the demonstrations, the Immigration Service has increased the number of officers stationed at airports and land borders to guarantee that the nation’s entry and exit points are adequately manned.

She emphasised that in order to stop foreign meddling in the nation, the agency has also increased monitoring.

Yusuf Bichi, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), stated that the organisation had revealed the identities of certain sponsors. However, he declined to provide more details.

Afunanya, the DSS spokesman, represented Bichi at the meeting. Bichi stated that certain bank accounts had already been stopped.

He continued by saying that some of the people managing the accounts were staying overseas and that they were being watched.
