According to Dr. Doris Uzoka Anite, Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, the country lost an estimated N500 billion as a result of the recently ended hunger protests.

This was revealed by Anite in a recent statement posted on the official X account.

She bemoaned the extent to which the nation’s economy was harmed by the hunger protests known as #Endbadgovernance.

In her article, she stated that over N52 billion worth of items were destroyed and that 21 people had died as a result of the protest.

She pointed out that companies and entrepreneurs around the nation are suffering as a result of the protest theft.

She said, “The loss of lives during the protests is saddening. My thoughts are with the families affected. The looting, resulting in billions lost, is a severe setback for our economy and entrepreneurs. Let’s honour those we’ve lost by striving for more peaceful and constructive dialogue.”

August 2, 2024, until August 10, 2024, were the protest dates.

Remember that the country would lose N400 billion a day due to protests, according to a previous assessment by the Central for the Promotion of Private Enterprise.
