Just two weeks after his meeting with Afrobeat sensation Davido, iconic highlife artist Bright Chimezie has officially signed with Sony Music Publishing West Africa.
The renowned global music label shared the news over the weekend through multiple updates on its verified Instagram account.
Announcing the development, it wrote “SMP is honored to announce the introduction of the Legendary and extraordinary Bright Chimezie into the family. The creator of the Zigma sound has joined the Sony Music Publishing (SMP) West Africa.”
Chimezie’s recent link-up with Davido in May came after the award-winning singer credited the highlife veteran’s album as a source of inspiration for his hit song ‘With You’, featuring Omah Lay.
The signing follows closely behind another industry revelation Mayorkun, a former artist under Davido’s label, recently revealed that Davido played a crucial role in helping him land his own Sony Music deal.
