Nigerians have been urged to rebel against the one-party state by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
As it gets ready for its national convention in Kano in August, the party issued this request in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the report, the occasion would be crucial for electing new national executives, bolstering internal democracy, and reestablishing the PDP as a powerful force capable of freeing Nigeria from the failed All Progressives Congress, or APC, in time for the general elections in 2027.
The National Convention will give merit, openness, and inclusivity top priority when choosing leaders who can challenge the APC’s misrule, the statement continued.
“Nigerians must therefore rise to resist the APC’s sinister plot to transform Nigeria into a one-party totalitarian state.
“The Tinubu-led administration’s economic policies have inflicted unprecedented hardship, with rising poverty, insecurity, and wanton killings plaguing the nation.
“The APC’s desperate attempts to stifle opposition voices through sponsorship of crisis within political parties, threats, intimidation, and attacks on democratic institutions reveal their fear of imminent defeat in 2027.
“The PDP as a party that stands for the rule of law, and the supremacy of the will of the people is gearing up to restore democratic principles in 2027,” it said.
It urged Nigerians to oppose the anti-people policies of the APC and work with the PDP to forge a unified front in order to regain Nigeria’s future.
The statement claims that the National Convention in August 2025 would set the groundwork for a revitalized PDP that is prepared to spearhead the movement for a Nigeria where all citizens prosper.
Therefore, as the PDP gets ready to nominate leaders who will stand up for the goals of the Nigerian people, it asked party members, other important stakeholders, and patriotic Nigerians to support the party.
“Together, we will defeat the APC’s authoritarian agenda and restore Nigeria to the path of progress, security, and economic stability,” it added.
