Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, the leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the party’s 2023 candidate for governor of Jigawa State, has criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for making the state and the nation’s economic and social conditions worse, saying that people have already suffered enough under its rule.

Ringim criticized a number of state government policies during a stakeholders’ conference in Hadejia, Jigawa State, claiming that they do not adequately serve the needs of the average citizen.

In particular, he criticized the Jigawa State Government’s recently introduced citizens’ engagement program, saying it does not give regular people a meaningful forum to express their concerns.

“A common man should be allowed to speak his mind, even if it is against the government’s interest,” Ringim stated.

He lamented Nigerians’ growing adversity and cautioned that it has reached an intolerable level.

Ringim stressed that many individuals have been reduced to beggars and are fighting for their lives, and he encouraged the federal and state governments to act immediately to enhance citizens’ quality of life.

“The government must prioritise education, healthcare, job creation, and agricultural development. Every policy and programme should be designed to uplift the common man, with a serious commitment to effective implementation. If these sectors are improved, poverty will decrease, and so will crime, including theft, armed robbery, and kidnapping,” he added.

Ringim reiterated the NNPP’s function as an opposition party, saying that it is their responsibility to demand policies that will lessen the suffering of the populace and to hold the government responsible.

In order to make wise choices in next elections, he also urged voters to consider their experiences with the current administration.
