Senator Obinna Ogba, the chairman of Abakaliki FC, has urged the players to put up more effort after the team’s dismal start to the current campaign.

Last weekend, the Rice Boys’ first game of the season ended in a 1-1 draw at home against Calabar Rovers.

Head coach, Ifeanyi Onyedika was suspended following the loss.

Ogba urged the players to perform in a way that would make the fans proud.

“If you know how deeply our sports friendly governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, loves and cares for you all, you will improve your performance. Sit up and make our governor and the entire Ebonyians proud,” Ogba told the players.

On Sunday, Abakaliki FC and Akwa United will square off at Uyo Township Stadium.
