President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio has refuted rumours that President Bola Tinubu has asked for permission to spend public money to buy a presidential plane.

Following a more than hour-long closed-door meeting of senators, Akpabio refuted the reports.

According to several reports, Tinubu requested that the National Assembly approve funding for acquiring a new presidential jet.

Debunking the rumour, Akpabio said, “I have never had that correspondence to approve the purchase of a plane. We care about the President, we care about Nigerians.

“We will approve things that will benefit the people.

“There is nothing before us. But the purveyors of the story know that there is a problem with the Presidential Fleet.”
