In keeping with the Nigerian military’s nonviolent strategy for resolving the war, a nonpartisan organization called the North-West Women Development Forum (NWDF) has urged infamous bandit leader Bello Turji to give up his weapons and embrace peace.

The organization also commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for murdering Kallamu Buzu, Turji’s top aide, during an operation in Sokoto State’s Sabon Birni Local Government Area.

After praying for peace in the North-West, the entire nation, and the Nigerian Armed Forces, the women made the call on Friday in Abuja.

Under Operation Hadarin Daji, soldiers from the 8 Division and Sector 2 Joint Task Force killed Buzu and a number of other combatants.

Turji reportedly promised retaliation after being greatly disturbed by the news, accusing another lieutenant of making blunders that resulted in Buzu’s murder during an unsuccessful attack on local vendors.

NWDF Public Relations Officer Salamatu Bello, speaking on behalf of the group, stated that locals are happy with how the military is handling terrorists and bandits.

She clarified that the women had come together to support the military and General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Defense Staff, and to pray for Allah’s intervention to bring about peace.

Additionally, she claimed that prayers were given for soldiers who died while protecting the nation.

“We cannot continue like this. As mothers, we are happy with the quiet but firm way the military is handling these criminals. We appeal to Bello Turji to surrender before it is too late,” she said.

The Nigerian Armed Forces were commended by the Sokoto State Government for the operation’s success.

Ahmed Usman, the governor’s security assistant, praised the soldiers for their bravery, professionalism, and speed, claiming that their actions averted a potential catastrophe.

He urged security forces to continue applying pressure to criminals in Sokoto State and throughout the North-West region, saying the state values their efforts.
