Nothing will happen if Tinubu writes 2027 election result – Imran Wakili

Political commentator Imran Wakili has alleged that President Bola Tinubu has continued to act without consequences, claiming the President could even “write his own election result” in the 2027 presidential poll without facing any repercussions.

In a post shared on X on Thursday, Wakili pointed to what he described as several constitutional breaches, including the suspension of a serving governor, the continued detention of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, and the reported freezing of the Osun State Government’s bank accounts.

According to him, “Bola Tinubu suspended a sitting governor, and nothing happened. He got away with it, regardless of what the Constitution says.”

Wakili further claimed that El-Rufai had remained in detention for 170 days over what he described as a bailable offence, alleging that the authorities had provided no explanation to the public for 50 of those days.

He also argued that the President was “freezing the account of an entire state government,” maintaining that no legal challenge had been mounted against the action despite existing constitutional provisions.

The commentator further alleged that President Tinubu could influence the outcome of the 2027 presidential election without facing any consequences.

According to him, if the President were to pursue a third term in office, the National Assembly would endorse such a move, while accusing opposition lawmakers of lacking the resolve to oppose it.

He wrote: “Bola Tinubu suspended a sitting governor, and nothing happened. He got away with it, regardless of what the Constitution says.

“Bola Tinubu is keeping El-Rufai in detention for 170 days over a bailable offence. Out of those 170 days, 50 days have passed without any reason given to the public, and he has gotten away with it, regardless of what the Constitution says.

“Bola Tinubu is now freezing the account of an entire state government, and there is nothing anybody can do about it, regardless of what the Constitution says.

“Bola Tinubu could write his own election result in 2027, and nothing will happen. We will simply continue living our lives.

“If he wants a third term, I strongly believe he can get it. The Senate will pass the bill, the House of Representatives will approve it, and the cowards you celebrate in the opposition as legislators will shout “AYE” at the top of their voices, bunch of lazy, and hungry hypocrites.

“And nothing is going to happen.”
